YEREVAN. – Events devoted to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence were held in various parts of the world.

Switzerland still on July 28 held an exhibition of young women painters in Locarno city. Another city Aarau showed Papik movie within One Minute film festival, Armenian MFA press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Swiss Zurich held Armenian cultural festival on August 26-27. Federal Palace of the capital city Bern organized an official reception on Wednesday. MPs of Swiss Federal Council and State Council, heads of MFA Federal Department, heads of Armenian institutions and public figures participated in the reception. Armenian Ambassador Charles Aznavour’s message was read during the reception.

Armenia’s Independence Day was also celebrated in Japan, Lebanon, Belarus and other states. Armenian permanent representation in CIS institutions organized an exhibition at CIS Secretariat building on Tuesday. Accredited Ambassadors and diplomats, CIS employees, representatives of media were present at the event. Armenia’s permanent representative at CIS Armen Khachatryan and other CIS officials, who estimated high the role of Armenia in the Commonwealth, delivered speeches on the Independence Day.

Armenian Ambassador told the guests about Armenia’s past 20 years. Belarusian deputy FM Igor Ptrishenko delivered welcoming speech.

Representatives of the Armenian community organized a concert during the reception.
