YEREVAN. – The opposition rally is over. The next is scheduled for September 30, Armenia’s First President, leader of opposition Levon Ter-Petrosyan said at the end of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) rally on Friday. 

Ter-Petrosyan also stated the ANC demands:

1. To hold snap presidential and parliamentary elections

2. To make significant amendments in the Election Code before the elections and include ANC offers

3. To investigate ten murder cases occurred on March 1, 2008 in next three months and start criminal prosecutions of responsible people

4. To release ANC activist, political prisoner Tigran Arakelyan and close the criminal cases instigated for other seven activists, released before

5. To withdraw the illegal barrier put on street trade in Yerevan city streets

6. To abolish the decision on dismantling kiosks in Yerevan

7. To stop the deformation of the architecture of the capital city and prohibit constructing high rise buildings

8. To prohibit by law the practice of prosecution of journalists and media representatives by high-ranking officials, MPs and representatives of local governmental offices
