MOSCOW. – Final status of Nagorno-Karabakh may be resolved only through negotiations, Russian MFA stated, Interfax reports.

“We believe that Karabakh future status should be gained as a result of political talks between the conflicting sides and within the Minsk process, based on the principle of non-application of force, territorial integrity and the right of self-determination,” official representative of Russian MFA Aleksander Lukashevich commented in response to clarify Russia’s position for the recent local elections held in Karabakh.

Russian MFA considers that the local elections in Karabakh were directed to the establishment of natural conditions to improve life standards. However, Russia with other states does not recognize Karabakh as an independent state, the diplomat stressed.

Nagorno-Karabakh held local elections on September.
