Starting from Tuesday, the Philippines and the United States will hold the largest joint military exercise in their history in the Taiwan Strait amid China's military activeness, The Star newspaper reports.

More than 17,000 soldiers (5,000 Filipinos, 12,000 Americans, and 111 Australians) will participate in the exercise. The number of this year’s participants is almost twice as much as that of last year.
