MOSCOW. – If Russia’s next president becomes Putin, it will make no difference for Armenia, head of the CIS Department at the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies Alexander Skakov said in the interview with the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent. He added that there is a myth as if one of the Russian leaders is pro-Western and that it can impact on external political course of Russia.

Skakov does not agree that the external course of Russia stagnated during the reign of Medvedev. It should not be forgotten that only under the presidency of Medvedev Russian-Georgian war unleashed, and Abkhazia and Southern Ossetia gained independence. Besides, the course of external politics had been elaborated before Medvedev and no amendments were made, the expert stressed and added that the shift of Russian Presidents will bring no changes.

Commenting on the possible impact of the Russian government on the process of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement and the role of Medvedev, the expert responded that again no changes are expected. Moreover, Medvedev is not to blame for the failure of the negotiation process of Karabakh conflict.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier Medvedev offered Putin to ballot for the 2012 presidential elections at the United Russia congress on Saturday, while Medvedev agreed to head the party list for parliamentary elections on December 4.
