YEREVAN. – Armenian ruling Republican Party will stand for presidential elections in 2013 headed by the current president Serzh Sargsyan, Republican MP Gagik Melikyan said at a press conference on Thursday.

According to him, Republican Party has its nomine and its president and the party will stand for the elections with its nominee. This decision was stated also in the party memorandum. Republican Party is not pro-governmental or pro-presidential party. This is the ruling party and the president’s party, and it has its own programs and objectives, added the MP.

Regarding the former Armenia’s president Robert Kocharyan’s nomination, Melikyan said that he did not exclude it. However, it will hardly impact on the state’s policy.
