PARIS. – Friendship between Armenian and French people dates back to centuries. It grew into close cooperation with Armenia’s achieving independence, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at the meeting with Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe and representatives of the Armenian community of France on Thursday.

According to Sargsyan, relations grew seriously in the past 20 years. Bilateral relations have been growing in all spheres, he said. Serzh Sargsyan touched upon the French President’s official visit to Armenia scheduled for October. It will significantly contribute to the relations between the two states.    

The cooperation agenda of the two states also includes strengthening relations between local governmental bodies. Currently cooperation between Armenian and French 30 cities and communities has been developing, including relations between Paris and Yerevan. In this context the President stressed the valuable activity of Paris Mayor.

Welcoming representatives of the Armenian community of France, the President stressed their contribution to the development of the relations between the two states.
