Turkey Foreign Affairs Minister greets the joint statement issued by the presidents of OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries France, the United States and the Russian Federation over Nagorno Karabakh conflict, informs “Today’s Zaman” daily news.
“We have the impression that the mentioned principles present a common ground. The approach of both countries towards these principles seems quite natural. Constructive and integrated approach to the issue is of great importance. OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen also think this issue of higher priority. In the near future they should finalize meeting over these basic principles and settle the conflict peacefully as the issue is painful not only for Armenia and Azerbaijan but the whole South Caucasus,” highlights Turkey FMA statement.
OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries (the US, France and Russia) related to Karabakh conflict peaceful resolution have issued a supplementary version of Madrid principles calling for return of territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan; an interim status for the region to provide guarantees for security and self-governance; a determination of the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh; opening of the corridor between Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh; the right of internally displaced persons and refugees to return to their homes; and international security guarantees that include a peacekeeping operation.
