YEREVAN. – The relations between Armenia and Russia have a fundamental character and the switch between of Russia’s current President Dmitry Medvedev and PM Vladimir Putin will change absolutely nothing, oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan told the journalists on Monday.

“I considered myself an expert for Russia till 1998 when Armenia and Russia were in close cooperation, and I personally was in a close contact with Russia’s President Yeltsin. I knew equally Armenia and Russia and could estimate the situation. However, 13 years have passed since then and I cannot give the same estimation as before.

As for Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan’s return to politics, only he believes in it. ANC is well aware that Kocharyan’s perspectives are empty. He gathers naive oligarchs and tries to persuade them that both Serzh Sargsyan’s and Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s games are over. Kocharyan has inspired himself so much that even he believes his lie,” ANC leader concluded.
