At least 11 people died and around 20 are missing after a tornado swept through southern Brazil, AFP reports, citing local authorities.
In total, 2,330 people were left with damaged homes and 602 were evacuated from areas exposed to the cyclone that passed between Thursday and Friday.

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul Eduardo Leite visited the most affected areas by helicopter on Saturday, along with government and emergency officials.

In recent years, Brazil has been hit by a series of deadly weather events that experts say are exacerbated by climate change.
