YEREVAN. - The Armenian government has not shown adequate response to the landslide in the Tavush region yet, while several vehicles are still under the terrain, oppositional Heritage party MP Stepan Safaryan said. It is already the third day that five people, out of them two are citizens of Georgia, are still missing.

According to him, relatives of those people came to the Armenian parliament. They were accepted by the Heritage group.

”We call the government to accelerate the rescue works,” Safaryan added.

Besides, another Heritage group MP Larisa Alaverdyan asked the deputy chief of Armenian Police Hovhannes Hunanyan to localize the whereabouts of the missing people through mobile operators.

However, the government has not shown an adequate response in connection to the accident yet. According to the international practice relative supported by the government go to the place of the accident and receive the necessary assistance including psychological, MP added.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier the first vehicles started to remove from the terrain with MOD helicopter MI-8.

Georgian side offered support but Armenians rejected it by saying that there is no need at the moment.

On October 2, a landslide occurred at Vanadzor-Bagratashen section—nearby Ayrum railway station’s bridge and close to Lchkadzor village—of M6 Armenian Interstate Highway. The 130-meter-long and 60-meter-deep terrain covered the road, rendering it completely impassable. A total of 35 vehicles have remained under terrain.

Five people are still missing, they are: Armen Sorsumatyan (Yerevan resident, born in 1973), Mekhak Sorsumatyan (Yerevan resident, born in 1964), Norik Mirzoyan (Lchkadzor village resident, born in 1939), Arthur Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1992), and Gurgen Hakobyan (Georgian citizen, born in 1949).
