YEREVAN. – Staff deals with any political power in Armenia are necessary, even with the aim of winning elections, Armenia’s first president, oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan said at the meeting in the Liberty Square in Yerevan on Tuesday.

“When the ANC was established, powers included in it knew that the goal is not the future distribution of the staff. At the beginning I met leaders of different powers and offered to be united against the common threat preventing democracy in our state. Those who united us do not expect any titles. Two political powers offered cooperation for having posts. But left ANC on failing to meet their objectives,” Ter-Petrosyan stated.

However, one of the political parties went for the deal with authorities after the elections and received the office of the Secretary of the Armenia’s National Security Council. The Orinats Yerkir Party added its voices to Sargsyan’s results and gained enough power as if to act separately, ANC leader added.

According to him, offices are distributed according to the principles of correspondence and merit in a democratic state. When the ANC wins the elections, on which ANC is sure, offices will be run by people who meet the criteria. While the preparedness will be the main condition for the acceptance into a civil service, Ter-Petrosyan concluded.
