YEREVAN. – No foreign Ambassador to Armenia spoke the way the German Ambassador did for the past 20 years, member of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) central bureau David Shahnazaryan said commenting on Germany’s Ambassador to Armenia Hans-Jochen Schmidt’s statement about ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
During the debate recently organized by the Civilitas Foundation Hans-Jochen Schmidt said that current situation in Armenia is the legacy of Levon Ter-Petrosyan. He also voiced the issue of the necessity of sufficient openness to the perception of criticism by Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
“At first we thought it is a misunderstanding and does not correspond to reality. However, later we were confirmed that it was an intended estimation. Such behavior is inadmissible for a diplomat. ANC believes that Ambassador’s estimation will not coincide with that of German government,” Shahnazaryan added.
