The Armenian President did not grant pardon to Karen Hunanyan, the brother of Nairi Hunanyan, the gang leader of the October 27, 1999 tragic parliament shooting, who is serving a life sentence.

The respective decree of President Vahagn Khachaturyan has been posted on the official website of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.

The reasons for denying the petition, however, are not reported.

The aforesaid decree was signed on Monday.

Karen Hunanyan had petitioned to the Armenian government, asking for pardon and release.

Nairi Hunanyan and three others are also serving a life sentence in connection with the aforesaid parliament tragedy case.
