Azerbaijan had started the process of exhausting and wearing down the people of Artsakh with the blockade, and since June 15, absolutely no humanitarian cargo, no food at all has entered Artsakh. Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Minister of State Gurgen Nersisyan told this to the Public Television of Armenia.
"As we know, Artsakh is not a self-sufficient country in terms of food, and there are many types of products that were brought from Armenia. However, since June 15, Artsakh defends its existence only on the account of its internal resources. Today, the people of Artsakh live on the account of the agricultural products created by our villagers inside and on the account of the reserve fund that we had. It is clear that the resources we have are not inexhaustible. There is an indescribable self-organization among the people of Artsakh," he said.
To the question as to how accurate the reports are that greenhouse farms have increased by 50 percent and livestock breeding has increased in Artsakh, the state minister answered: "Yes. After some time we can provide about 70 percent of our domestic demand on the account of our greenhouses, which is an unprecedented indicator for Artsakh. We've never had this level of self-sufficiency."
Referring to the fact that the Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh bring in food for themselves by helicopter, and asked whether they are helping Artsakh in this matter, Gurgen Nersisyan said: "The Azerbaijani side did not provide conditions to the Russian peacekeepers for organizing humanitarian aid, as it was done before June 15. Russian peacekeepers organize helicopter flights; I don't know what they carry for the peacekeeping contingent; we assume that they also transport food. But humanitarian cargo transportation is not carried out for the people of Artsakh through Russian peacekeepers."
