At least two people have died and one is missing after a fire broke out on Friday at the Nohoch Alfa offshore oil platform at the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico, Mexican state oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said in a statement, CNN reports.

According to Pemex, about 321 of the 328 workers on the platform at the time of the fire have already been evacuated. Four boats were sent to fight the fire on the oil rig.

Pemex director Octavio Romero Oropeza said in a video message on Twitter that there are two victims and one person is missing.

He said that now the company is directing its efforts to find the missing person and resume work.
