YEREVAN. – If armenian politician Vazgen Manukyan was an elected president in 1996, why he received just 13% in 1998 presidential election, said Armenia’s first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan in the Liberty Square on Thursday responding to the report that he took the office from Manukyan in 1996 presidential elections.

“Thus, Manukyan served for Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan in 1998 presidential elections by joining his voices to Kocharyan’s,” Ter-Petrosyan stated.

Ter-Petrosyan also referred to another accusation according to which during his reign he had received $25 million to grant ArmenTel Company a monopoly for the first time in Armenia’s history. ArmenTel contract was signed after his resignation by Kocharyan. Moreover, Kocharyan signed the agreement on the Yerevan Brandy Company as well.
