US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry will take part in bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Xie Zhenhua in Beijing July 16-19, Reuters reports.

The talks will focus on issues such as reducing methane emissions, limiting use of coal, combating deforestation and helping poor countries fight climate change.

After Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, John Kerry is the third US official to visit China this year to try to restore stable relations between the two countries.

"What we're trying to achieve now is really to establish some stability with the relationship without conceding anything," Kerry said at a House Foreign Relations Subcommittee hearing on Thursday.
