A group of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) residents have blocked, with concrete barriers, the Askeran-Akna (Aghdam) motorway, to show that in Artsakh they are categorically against the bringing in of any Azerbaijani products—be it "humanitarian aid” or very cheap products—to Artsakh.

High-ranking Azerbaijani officials have recently been talking about their readiness to send aid to Artsakh via Akna (Aghdam). The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, also spoke about the possibility of using that road.

In an interview with Armenpress, Arshak Abrahamyan, a founding member of the public movement "Artsakh Security Development Front," reflected on the protest action of blocking the Askeran-Akna road by the youth of this movement and a group of Artsakh residents on Tuesday.

"We have clearly noted that this is a red line for us; Artsakh should maintain its social and economic ties with Armenia only. Among our main demands, the dismantling of the Azerbaijani checkpoint illegally installed on the Hakari bridge remains the priority," said Abrahamyan.

He added that in the conditions of the current humanitarian disaster in Artsakh, they demand the provision of a humanitarian air corridor as an urgent solution.
