YEREVAN.- Turkey is trying to become a world power which will make decisions in the territory of former Ottoman Empire, said expert in Turkish studies Levon Hovsepyan.
Hovsepyan stressed that neo-Ottomanism concept should be regarded in this context. According to him, neo-Ottomanism does not imply invading these countries, it is limited by power to make decisions.
As regards deployment of anti-missile shield jointly with NATO, the expert considers it is the most important military and political process within the format of the alliance.
“Taking such move, Turkey is given a cart blanche to act in the Middle East. The same happened in 1990s when USSR collapsed. It is similar situation. However, Turkey is playing its own game and Ankara has its preferences,” Hovsepyan said.
