On July 24, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi received Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan in Tehran, RA MFA reports.

The parties noted with satisfaction that a high-level political dialogue has been formed between the two friendly neighboring countries, based on mutual respect and the thousand-year brotherhood of the two peoples.

Issues related to Armenian-Iranian multi-sectoral cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Thoughts were exchanged on implementing an  ambitious bilateral agenda, as well as agreements reached at high level. In this context, in particular, the importance of implementing current and planned joint projects in trade, economic, energy, and transport sectors between the two countries was emphasized.

Ararat Mirzoyan and Ebrahim Raisi also focused on issues related to regional security. PM Mirzoyan presented to the President of Iran the latest developments in the process of settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, and also confirmed the vision of the Armenian side to establish a lasting peace in the South Caucasus. The interlocutors emphasized the need to exclude the solution of problems through the use of force or the threat of force, as well as maximalist and hostile rhetoric.

Referring to the escalating humanitarian crisis in [Artsakh] Nagorno-Karabakh due to the illegal blocking of the [Berdzor] Lachin Corridor, Ararat Mirzoyan stressed the need to immediately lift the blockade and prevent ethnic cleansing of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh by Azerbaijan.
