At 5:55pm Thursday, the Azerbaijani side cut the fiber optic cable of the internet near the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint located in the Berdzor (Lachin) corridor, disrupting Artsakh's stable internet connection. Artak Beglaryan, advisor to the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) president, wrote about this on Facebook Friday morning.

"Yesterday evening, specialists from Artsakh, together with Russian peacekeepers, tried to approach the given section and repair the cable, but the Azerbaijani side did not allow [it]. Negotiations between the peacekeepers and the Azerbaijani side have been ongoing since this morning so that our specialists can restore the damaged cable.

"I do not consider it a coincidence that this new crime has occurred after the UN Security Council [emergency] meeting [on the Lachin corridor issue] and literally 5 minutes before the start of the scheduled press conference on the topic of Artsakh genocide. (…). Despite Azerbaijan's efforts, the press conference was held, attended by around 130 people from 27 countries.

"By the way, now a very limited amount of internet is accessible in Artsakh through unstable radio communication, which is also continuously under the pressure of Azerbaijani jamming systems," Beglaryan added.
