A petition, with a request to apply an interim measure against Azerbaijan, was submitted Monday to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), regarding the protection of the rights of three Armenian civilians abducted by Azerbaijan from the Lachin corridor. Armenian News-NEWS.am learned about this from the representative of Armenia on international legal affairs.
In one day, three young Armenians from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) were abducted by the Azerbaijanis from the illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint at the Lachin corridor. Alen Sargsyan was abducted first, and literally hours later two more young men were abducted by the Azerbaijanis. All three of them are university students and were heading to Armenia’s capital Yerevan to continue their studies.
The Artsakh Information Center described this incident as a continuation of the genocidal policy of Azerbaijan, as the latter once again violates the norms of international humanitarian law.
These young men were traveling to Armenia escorted by Russian peacekeepers.
