The situation is very difficult, we want to tell our friends in Armenia and Artsakh that they are not alone. We are here to show it. Xavier Bertrand, President of the French Regional Council of Hauts-de-France, stated this in Armenia at Wednesday’s joint online press conference with the President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)

"We are ready to raise your voice and support you. In addition to words, we have intensified our cooperation. Very specific actions will be taken," he said.

Also, Bertrand called on the President of France to petition to the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution in the interests of the people of Artsakh.

France's humanitarian aid to Artsakh and the current visit of several leaders of French regions to Armenia, according to him, are also sent as a signal to the international community.

"Many people do not know that Azerbaijan does not allow Artsakh Armenians to live freely, that newborns do not have enough food, that access to energy resources is very limited. People are deprived of all this because of Azerbaijan which ignores international law. That is why we organized a humanitarian convoy. I emphasize, a humanitarian convoy, so that people can live with dignity. And we weren't allowed [by Azerbaijan] to do that. We condemn it" he said.

The head of the aforesaid French region informed that part of the aforementioned French humanitarian aid will be distributed to the refugees from Artsakh, while the other part will remain idle, waiting for the reopening of the road to Artsakh.

"We encourage others to take the same steps so that the international community wakes up. A tragedy is happening here, and we all support Artsakh and Armenia.

"Azerbaijan wants to turn Nagorno-Karabakh into a prison or even a cage and evict the [Armenian] inhabitants from there. We don't want this. We want the population of Nagorno-Karabakh to live freely there.

"Do we have to wait a little longer for the international community to wake up to casualties due to lack of medical aid and food shortages? This tragedy can be avoided, and adding new ones to this tragedy can be avoided. The international community should remember what happened in the last century," concluded the president of the French Regional Council of Hauts-de-France.
