Typhoon Haikui caused injures to two individuals and resulted in power outages for tens of thousands of homes as it struck the island, CNN reports, citing Taiwan's official Central News Agency (CNA).

The Taiwanese government reported the evacuation of 3,729 people, mainly in the southern and eastern regions, and Taiwanese airlines cancelled all domestic flights and suspended ferry services to surrounding islands on Sunday.

International flights experienced relatively less disruption, with only 41 cancellations, the Civil Aeronautics Administration says.

The storm reached the southeastern coastal township of Donghe at around 3:40 pm local time, as reported by CNA.
