YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday went to Ararat Region for a work visit. 

In Artashat city, the President took part in the 2,200th anniversary celebrations marking the foundation of this city, which is one of Armenia’s ancient capitals. Sargsyan also attended the traditional Harvest Festival 2011, in which the aforementioned Region’s communities offer their produce of the year, Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.                  

Within the framework of his work visit, Serzh Sargsyan also got familiarized with the preparations for reconstructing Artashat city’s artificial lake. The latter’s reconstruction would solve the city’s ecological problem, and around 235 million drams ($629,800 US) are needed to implement this project. The officials in charge informed the President that the matter of finding necessary funding is resolved and preparations for the lake’s reconstruction would come to an end within specified time period.
