The Kremlin is concerned about the outbreak of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh, Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, has said, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported.

According to him, the main thing now is to ensure the safety of the people in the region and "convince Azerbaijan and Armenia to refrain from forceful methods and start negotiations."

"The main thing is to convince Yerevan and Baku to refrain from forceful methods and sit at the negotiating table. We are in contact with both the Armenian and Azerbaijani parties. Our military is working to return the settlement process to the political and diplomatic track," he said.

Peskov emphasized that Moscow considers the tripartite documents signed in November 2020 to be the best basis for settlement. "We call on everyone to follow the provisions of those documents, naturally, taking into account the new realities, bearing in mind the fact that the Armenian side recognized the territory of Azerbaijan as of 1991," added Peskov.
