An unnamed US official has reported that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will engage in urgent talks with all relevant parties in an effort to halt Azerbaijan's 'egregious' 'operation' in Nagorno-Karabakh, AFP reported.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed concern over the situation: “With the aid route open, we were hopeful that we could adapt to the long-term challenges, which makes this incident particularly egregious and dangerous overnight.”

The official further noted, that 'it is concerning that this happened overnight, especially because yesterday we did see some progress in the movement of cargo through the Lachin corridor,' as quoted by Reuters.

Blinken is expected to participate in ongoing diplomatic discussions regarding tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the next 24 hours.

Azerbaijan՛s Armed Forces unleashed military aggression against Nagorno Karabakh, using artillery and other heavy weapons as of 1 p.m. on September 19. They attempted to penetrate into the depth of the defense line of the Defense Forces of Nagorno Karabakh.

Stepanakert, the capital of Nagorno Karabakh, has come under heavy shelling now. The Human Rights Defender of Nagorno Karabakh, Gegham Stepanyan, reported that there are multiple casualties and injuries among civilians, including children.
