YEREVAN. – Formation of the middle class is the important issue to overcome corruption and to implement democratic values, Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan said on Monday at the meeting with the delegation of the Board of Directors of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Director for Caucasus, Moldova and Belarus Paul-Henri Forestier and EBRD Resident Office in Yerevan Valeriu Razlog also participated in the meeting.

The delegation arrived in Armenia to discuss the current projects, to get acquainted with the situation in Armenia and to clarify the priorities in elaborating new strategy for Armenia, governmental press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Regarding world financial crisis, Sargsyan spoke on the promotion of economy diversification to reduce illegal economy and to improve business environment.

As for the struggle against corruption, Armenia will have a new law since next year. The society will control and contribute to the publicity and transparency of the activity of the officials. As a result, corruption will reduce, the PM added.

Head of Armenian government thanked EBRD Business Support Office and the Bank’s support in the establishments of the council of small and medium enterprises of Armenia.
