YEREVAN. – Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern stated that the upcoming elections in Armenia are necessary to be held on high level.

The Ambassador told the journalists on Monday that he and the U.S. Embassy will work with all the classes of the society to ensure better elections.

Armenia will have parliamentary elections in 2012, and presidential elections in 2013.

Regarding to the Armenian-American economic cooperation, Heffern stated with satisfaction with the fact that Armenia has realized successfully the projects of the U.S. Millennium Challenges Corporation. These issues were discussed during the meeting with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and FM Edward Nalbandian. The Ambassador also paid special importance to the cooperation with private sector.
