YEREVAN. – Red Cross-Armenia Organization and Armenian office of U.S. Peace Corps launched ‘Hot line of SMS information’ program. It aims to inform population on HIV/AIDS, respond to questions, and reduce information on the diseases and discrimination.
All the subscribers of Orange and VivaCell MTS mobile operators on Friday will have an opportunity to send free of charge anonymous questions on HIV/AIDS on 6428 and receive a correct response in 24 hours.
Armenia registered first cases of AIDS in 1988. Since then Armenia registered total of 1100 HIV cases by 2011. Infected men are 747 or 71.8%, while women are 293 or 28.2%. Infected children are 22 or 2.1%. 25-39 aged infected people make 57.6%.
