YEREVAN. – UEFA did not cancel the red card which Armenian national football team’s goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky received during the match with Ireland, Ruben Hayrapetyan, President of the Football Federation of Armenia, wrote in his Facebook account, in response to a visitor’s query.
Berezovsky therefore will miss the national squad’s next match.
In its final Group B match in Euro 2012 qualifiers on October 11, Armenia’s national team played an away game in Dublin against Ireland. During the match Roman Berezovsky received a red card from Spanish referee Iturralde Gonzalez and was subsequently sent off. After that controversial incident, Armenia was defeated with a score of 2-1 and did not qualify for Euro 2012.
