YEREVAN. – Oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) condemns the illegal behavior of the Armenian police taking in account that the police chief himself decided to arrest oppositional activist Vardges Gaspari.

Armenian Police Central department investigation office decided to arrest Vardges Gaspari. Gaspari is suspected in hooliganism and exerting violence against a government representative.

“Vardges Gaspari who participated in the protest action of Army in reality was arrested illegally. Ex-political prisoner, Gaspari always stood out for his determination to fight against the illegality of the police.

Armenian National Congress condemns the illegal behavior of the Armenian police taking in account that the police chief himself decided to arrest Vardges Gaspari.

Armenian National Congress demands to release Vardges Gaspari and to punish those who illegally arrested him,” reads the ANC statement.
