The "Kingdom of Urartu: The heritage of ancient Armenia: Urashtu-Harminuya-Armina" exhibition, which is organized jointly with the leading museums of Russia and Armenia, will be opened at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow on October 31,.

The website of the museum states that the exhibition is dedicated to the rich cultural history of Ancient Armenia and presents the origins of its art in a special light, the heritage of the state of Urartu (IX-VII centuries BC).

The exhibition consists of four sections, three of which are dedicated to different phases of the history and culture of that region—from the pre-Urartu (II-I millennium BC) tradition of the ancient tribes of the Armenian highlands  to the formation of ancient Armenian art of the post-Urartu period (VI-IV centuries BC).   

The exhibition is based on the rich heritage of the Kingdom of Urartu of the 9th-7th centuries B.C.

The exhibition is dedicated to a significant event: the 100th anniversary of the birth of Svetlana Khojash (1923-2008), the head of the Ancient East Department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and a famous scholar of Oriental studies. She was the long-time head (1959-1978) of the archaeological group of the Pushkin Museum as part of the joint Erebuni expedition.
