During a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized that the USA and the West are primarily focused on pursuing their own interests rather than fostering friendly relations with countries in the region, as reported by IRNA.

Raisi reiterated his stance, previously communicated to Ilham Aliyev, that the Zionist regime would not be a friend to any Muslim country. He highlighted the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip as evidence that the United States and the West do not sympathize with regional countries but rather prioritize their own interests in the area.

The Iranian president also emphasized Tehran's commitment to engaging in discussions with neighboring countries to resolve regional issues. He expressed hope that the ongoing 3+3 meeting would bolster constructive cooperation and regional interaction.

Raisi also reiterated the principled position of official Tehran that regional problems cannot be solved through the intervention of foreign forces, and emphasized the need to solve regional problems through closer interaction and cooperation between the countries of the region.

“I told Mr. Ilham earlier that the Zionist regime will neither be your friend nor the friend of any Muslim country. Today's situation in the Gaza Strip is a sign for all countries in the region that the United States and the West are not only not friends and sympathizers with the countries of the region, but are only pursuing their own racist interests in the region,” Raisi said.

The Iranian president also stressed the significance of broadening Tehran-Baku relations and cooperation across various domains. He underlined that enhancing interaction and relations with Azerbaijan, a friendly and neighboring country, constituted a fundamental aspect of Iran's foreign policy. Iran advocates for the resolution of issues and problems through mutual understanding and cooperation while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.
