YEREVAN. – Armenia’s FM Edward Nalbandian, European Commissioner responsible for Home Affairs, Cecilia Malmstrom, and internal affairs ministers of EU-member countries signed, in Luxembourg on Thursday, the Declaration on a Mobility Partnership between Armenia and European Union.

Nalbandian expressed delight over signing of the Declaration, noting that facilitation of people’s movement, and encouragement and activeness of contacts between the citizens of Armenia and EU are an important component of Armenia’s European integration policy, MFA Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.      

“We welcome the European Commission’s proposal to commence talks on facilitating entrance visa requirements between Armenia and EU, and are hopeful that the Council of Europe would quickly endorse the mandate for starting the talks. Armenia hopes to sign with EU, as soon as possible, the agreements on facilitation of entrance visa requirements and on readmission,” Armenian FM noted.     

Nalbandian also stressed that the objective of the next phase of the partnership is to lift the entrance visa requirements for citizens. 

Partnership on mobility aims to control migration between Armenia and EU, combat against illegal migration, and regulate Armenian citizens’ legal entrance.
