Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan by the end of the year. Sargis Khandanyan, an MP of the ruling majority Civil Contract Faction and Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, stated this at Wednesday’s last press briefing of the year in the NA.

According to him, if all the fundamental issues raised by Armenia on which an agreement was reached are approved and put on the aforesaid peace treaty, then the latter’s signing will, in fact, become just a technical matter.

"If the proposals regarding the peace treaty which Baku sent to Yerevan last time are approved, then it is not excluded that it will be signed at the end of the current year," Khandanyan said.

The lawmaker himself, however, is not in a hurry. In his opinion, everything depends on how the circumstances will affect the situation.

"It is necessary to wait," called the MP of the ruling majority faction in the Armenian legislature.
