TEHRAN.- World states should respect the rights of ethnic and religious minorities, said Iranian Deputy Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Ja’far Mohammad-Zadeh.

Iran can serve as an example for other states as rights and freedoms of ethnic and religious minorities residing in the Islamic Republic are based on the Constitution, he told journalists during a press conference held within the framework of 18th International Exhibition of Press and News Agencies.

“There is a big Armenian community in Iran which is represented by two MPs in the country’s parliament. The community has schools, churches and press. Armenian-language Alik newspaper is published in Iran as well. The Islamic Republic opposes any type of discrimination and injustice,” he stressed adding that all world religions are worshiping justice.

Deputy Minister’s words came in response to the statement of Ghana’s representative who said Muslims’ rights are oppressed in his country and called on Iran to help them.
