An unknown person opened fire in the building of the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University in the center of Prague. As a result, 11 people were killed, including the alleged attacker and dozens of people were wounded, a representative of the Czech rescue service told CTK news agency.

On Czech television, spokeswoman for the rescue service Jana Postova said that about 30 people were injured, DW reports.

The area where the shooting took place is cordoned off; people have been evacuated from the faculty building, Novinky. cz reports. A large contingent of police special forces has been deployed to the scene. Police asked people not to come to the area of the incident if possible and residents of nearby neighborhoods not to go out into the street.

According to Nova TV channel, the perpetrator was on the roof of the faculty building before he died. In addition, an explosion was heard. According to the media and reports on social networks, after the shooting started, some people ran out into the street while others barricaded themselves in classrooms. There is no information about the identity of the shooter and his possible motives yet.
