Israeli Armenian serviceman Nir Rafael Kananian was killed in Khan Younis, Gaza, as a result of an improvised explosive device explosion on December 22, writes the israelahayer.com website.
Staff Sergeant Kananian, 20, was a member of the Givati special military unit and was killed while on patrol.
He had just one month left to being discharged from the Israeli army.
The military funeral of this serviceman was held Monday in Israel.
Kananian was laid to rest in Beit Keshet Cemetery.
