Azerbaijan has transferred to the Armenian side five main principles which were the basis for the draft peace agreement prepared by Baku. This was stated by Elchin Amirbayov, the special ambassador to the Azerbaijani president, in an interview with The Guardian daily of the UK.

Last week, the latest draft proposals of the text of the peace agreement was transferred to the Armenian side, and Azerbaijan is now waiting for Armenia’s response, Amirbayov said, adding that they outlined five main principles which were the basis for the draft peace agreement prepared by Azerbaijan.

Amirbayov noted that now it is necessary to deal with the peace agreement. He said that Azerbaijan and Armenia can resolve the issue of determining their shared border at a later phase, taking into account the complicated and time-consuming nature of that process.

Moreover, he called on Armenia to fully grasp all the “advantages” of peace with Azerbaijan, and give up the harmful illusions and machinations aimed at disrupting the peace process.

"What is important to understand is that at this crucial stage in negotiations, where apparently we’re not that much far away from the final agreement,” Yerevan's sincere commitment is necessary to achieve concrete results, said the Azerbaijani official.
