On March 1, 2024, a ban on the popularization of blocking circumvention services will come into force in Russia. Roskomnadzor reported to TASS in response to reports about the ban of VPNs from this date.

"In accordance with the legislation in Russia banned the operation of means to circumvent blocking access to illegal content from February 2020. VPN services refer to such means if their use does not limit access to prohibited resources," - explained the Department.

The preparation of such an initiative became known in the fall of last year.
