NEW YORK. - UN High Commissioner discussed report on refugees in New York on Thursday.

After another propaganda speech of Azerbaijani Ambassador in the Third Committee of UN General Assembly, Armenian delegate made a speech. He formulated it as how a country like Azerbaijan, rich in oil reserves, teeming with foreign investments, cannot solve the problem of refugees and internal immigrants, or at least improve their living conditions? He also stated that Azerbaijani authorities are not interested in it and try to use the theme of the refugees as an instrument for political pressures.

Besides, Armenia was the first to face the issue of refugees in the Eastern Europe. It was resulted by Azerbaijani pogroms at the end of 1980s when hundreds of thousands refugees and internal immigrants had to leave their property and run away from Azerbaijan.

Armenian Ambassador to UN Karen Nazaryan also made a speech on Regional armament and security theme discussed last week. He stressed importance of full implementation of the agreement on conventional armament in Europe and stated that Azerbaijan is the only country that supports the agreement but continues to violate the principles of the international document.

Another session took place on October 28 devoted to “Women: peace and security” topic. More than 50 interested states, including Armenia participated in the session. Armenian Ambassador called to pay attention to the most vulnerable group during conflicts. He stressed the necessity of political participation of women in peaceful processes and settlements of the conflicts. It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan did not participate in the session.
