TBILISI. - Georgia is going to send another battalion of soldiers to Afghanistan next year, Georgia’s Minister of Defence Bacho Akhalaia confirmed. The information was reported earlier by the Georgian Tribuna.ge agency.

“After that Georgia will be the state sending most troops to Afghanistan among the non-NATO members,” the minster announced.

According to the agency, 119 soldiers returned from doing their peacekeeping mission in the “land of sand and black rocks”.

Currently there are 950 Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan.

Georgian troops have been in Afghanistan since 2009. During these years 10 Georgian soldiers have been killed there.
