YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Special Investigation Service instigated a criminal case against Armenia’s Syunik Region Governor Suren Khachatryan. Armenian businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan has filed the lawsuit as a result of being beaten by Khachatryan at Armenia-Marriot hotel on Monday. 

A forensic medical expertise was appointed for Hambardzumyan. However, she rejected it as she said that there are no injuries but pains, the Service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Criminal case is instigated according to the 118 article of the Criminal Code. Investigation is underway.

Hambardzumyan was invited at the Service still on November 10 within the frameworks of the materials prepared on the base of media publications. 

Hambardzumyan had published a statement on November 10 that Khachatryan has stolen equipments amounting to AMD 102 million from Lijvazk-Tey gold mine, which belongs to the businesswoman. Armenian Prosecutor General’s Office has sent this publication to the Service for proper investigation.
