YEREVAN. – Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan presented amendments of higher education system at a press conference devoted to the Students’ International Day on Thursday. The amendments aim to support expansion of defense of student’s rights in educational processes and reduce of corruption risks in higher education system.

Academic mobility within higher education institutions was adopted, which is a key direction of the Bologna process, Ministry’s press service informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The Minister said also that essential amendments were made in the attestation of the graduates, regarding graduation state exams. According to the current form, graduation exams were not subject to appeal. Another amendment is reducing state examination committee chairman’s influence on the final grade. If previously failed students had three year to re-pass the state exam, currently the amendment claims there is no restriction of time.

Issue on servicemen was also clarified to some extent. In particular, male students who suspend their study to serve in the army return and continue their education from where it stopped.

Those amendments are already ascertained and will be in power after published officially.
