YEREVAN. – Everyday and long time TV watching increases significantly the possibility of depression development in adults. The risk increases by 13% if watching soap-operas for three hours every day, American scientists say, MIGnews.com reports.
Researches from medical centre at Harvard University in Boston analyzed health data of 50,000 Americans, who have been filling for ten years questionnaire on their lifestyle.
Scientists did not disclose the reasons of the adverse affect of TV on the retired. While another study claims that if retired people go for a walk or carry out any physical exercise at least for 30 minutes every day, then the risk of development depression reduces by 20%.
Psychologists revealed that many cheerful people suffer from depression and may commit a suicide. Experts called it a ‘smiling depression.’ People with this diagnose do not accept the problem, and try to control themselves in public. However, on returning home they just collapse.
