YEREVAN. – The conflict between Armenian government and politician Harutyun Arakelyan entered a new stage.

Armenia’s PM Tigran Sargsyan’s press secretary Armen Ananyan spread a statement concerning this case.

“During the last few days the media touched upon the statements, accusations and the continuous threatening of Harutyun Arakelyan.

We want to inform that Armenia’s PM Tigran Sargsyann applied to the Main Prosecutor’s office so that the claims in Harutyunan’s statements may be investigated and a criminal case opened on the statements,” reads the statement by Armenian government.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, according to the official statement of the government the Ministry of Justice received a message by fax in which ‘someone tries to threaten Armenia’s PM and the Minister of Justice’.

“Apparently that message has been sent by Harutyun Arakelyan with evident false information,” the government says.

A letter from Harutyun Arakelyan to Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan was sent attached to the message. In the letter Arakelyan threatens to publish documents if he is not reinstates in the office of chairman of Armenian Ramgavar Azatakan Party.

“Yesterday the Prosecutor of the Center had a mysterious interview with me. I must say it was a poorly organized ‘event’…You probably do not know who you are dealing with and what I am capable of if the decisions of ARZP’s October 15 out of turn session do not receive legal force.

My offer remains the same: either you legalize my selection as ARZP chairman, or I fulfill my promise. We will see who has more to lose,” Harutyun Arakelyan mentioned in his letter.

Besides that he organized a press conference on Monday and declared that the Ministry of Justice does not legalize his selection because for years he speaks about the Nairit issue concerning the disappeared $31 million in which he accuses Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan.
