A powerful explosion occurred at the Mesko arms factory in southern Poland. A 59-year-old employee was killed, one person was injured. The enterprise of strategic importance is located in the town of Skarzysko-Kamienna, Euronews reports.
Radio station RMF FM reports that the explosion occurred in a rocket fuel center. The fire that erupted after the explosion was extinguished. In an interview with the radio station, the head of the plant Elżbieta Śreniawska said: "We had an explosion in the rocket fuel center, which was put into operation several years ago. Everything is controlled there because it is a modern center."
Polish media reported that the plant produces portable Piorun surface-to-air missile systems and ammunition for tanks, which are also supplied to Ukraine.
Poland has experienced several large fires at infrastructure facilities in recent weeks. Several people have been detained on suspicion of committing sabotage. According to Polish authorities, Russian security services may be behind their actions.
