YEREVAN. - U.S. will continue to work on reconciliation between Armenia and Turkey both on political level and on the level of human contact, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern told on Wednesday at closing of a two-day Armenian-Turkish Business Conference.
“In the United States you watch our politicians talk, and they say it’s all about jobs. And I know that takes place in Armenia and in Turkey as well. The main purpose of the conference is to facilitate contacts between business people of those important countries partners of the United States,” said the Ambassador.
However, he added, bilateral meetings and have a political component.
“There are lots of ways to bring about reconciliation between Turkey and Armenia. U.S. supports the protocols, unconditional protocols, not linked to any other issue," said the Ambassador.
The conference of Armenian and Turkish businessmen was held in the framework of “Support to Armenia-Turkey rapprochement” program, designed for 2010 – 2012 and sponsored by USAID.
